Centre Functions
Certain functions operate under a centralized unit of shared services as a means of enhancing efficiencies and synergy on internal knowledge and expertise.
Currently the following services are offered from the ‘Centre’ - Communication, Finance, HR, Treasury, Tax, Research, Legal & Secretarial, New Business Development, Sustainability, Enterprise Risk Management & Group Initiatives, Group Business Process Review, Strategic Group IT etc.
Corporate Communication
Responsible for all Internal and external corporate communication via digital media, electronic media, social and print media.
Group Treasury
Responsible for the management of financial risks through ongoing monitoring and hedging mechanisms, as well as management of liquidity and financing requirements, and ensuring Board approved strategies for interest rate, currency and liquidity management are applied across the Group.
Group Human Resources
Responsible for all Group-level processes, systems, policies, and learning & development initiatives across the Group.
Group Tax
Focuses on ensuring full compliance with tax laws and building a good relationship with IRD for the Group.
Sustainability, Enterprise Risk Management & Group Initiatives
Sustainability ensures economic, social and environmental factors are kept balance while running the business. Enterprise Risk Management understands and analyze risk to save money and time. Group Initiatives create synergies through sourcing, and cross selling across the Group.
Group Business Process Review
Is the internal audit function and manages the forensic data analytic tool implemented across the Group
Group Finance
Supports and advises Group businesses on financial policies and procedures and consolidates the final financial performance for the Group.
Corporate Finance
Evaluates Mergers and Acquisitions, identifies deals, effects financial evaluation, capital planning and monitoring. Reviews Group Portfolio, facilitates strategy formulation and manages business specific strategic projects / studies.
Strategic Group Information Technology
Responsible for advocacy, applications and technology services for John Keells Group.
Group Legal & Secretarial
Responsible for overlooking the legal matters arising from business activities of respective business unit, transactions requiring drafting and negotiation of legal contracts.

Is an innovation center; focused on ideation and value creation to solve global problems through Research & Development in our key areas Nanotechnology & Advanced Materials, Sustainable Energy & Energy Storage, Biotechnology & Synthetic Biology, Food & Water, Physics & Internet of things (IoT)

The CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) entity of the John Keells Group, focuses on 6 key focus areas; Education, Health, Livelihood Development, Art & Culture, Environment and Disaster Relief.

New Business Development
Primarily focuses on identifying, evaluating and developing greenfield project development opportunities across John Keells Group and pursues public private partnership opportunities in large scale infrastructure projects in Sri Lanka. They also manage operational aspects of Cinnamon Life Project.
